Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş announces: Families of martyrs and veterans to be heard at commission meeting
The National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, established in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), met for the third time under the chairmanship of Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. Following the meeting, which lasted approximately 7 hours, Kurtulmuş announced that the families of martyrs and veterans would be heard at the commission's next meeting.

Regarding the commission, Kurtulmuş stated, "It is undoubtedly the most important duty of our Commission to follow the steps to be taken on behalf of the nation in the process that emerges with the terrorist organization laying down its arms, to carry out necessary arrangements, and within this framework, to discuss steps related to democratization during this historic turning point for Turkey."
The "National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission," established in Parliament as part of the new resolution process that began with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call to PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and continued with the PKK laying down its arms, held its third meeting.
Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş announced that the main agenda of today's meeting was to hear the members' proposals regarding the commission's work.
The commission, whose third meeting concluded after 7 hours, decided to hold its next meeting on August 19 and 20. During these meetings, families of martyrs and veterans will be heard.
To fill the vacant seats of the IYI Party in the commission, the names of Denizli Deputy Cahit Özkan for the AKP, and for the CHP,
Ankara Deputy Umut Akdoğan, and for the DEM Party, Istanbul Deputy Celal Fırat, were submitted to the Speaker of Parliament.
The number of members in the commission increased to 22 for the AKP, 11 for the CHP, and 5 for the DEM Party.
Thus, the commission now includes 22 deputies from the AKP, 11 from the CHP, 5 from the DEM Party, 4 from the MHP, 3 from the New Path Group, 1 from HÜDA PAR, 1 from the New Welfare Party, 1 from the TİP, 1 from the EMEP, 1 from the Democratic Left Party, and 1 from the Democrat Party.
In the commission's second meeting, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, and MIT Undersecretary İbrahim Kalın attended and delivered presentations. A vote was held to ensure the second meeting of the commission was conducted under the principle of full confidentiality, and it was decided unanimously that the commission meeting would be held behind closed doors.
