Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş reacts to Israel's death penalty law

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş met with Palestinian Deputy Prime Minister Hussein al-Sheikh and Palestinian National Council Speaker Rawhi Fattouh at the Parliament. Expressing that all state institutions and organizations, led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, have been mobilized to support Palestine, Kurtulmuş said, "As representatives of the nation, we in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey have always viewed the Palestinian issue as our top foreign policy priority.

We have made and continue to make efforts to protect the rights of the Palestinian state and its people on international platforms by using all the possibilities of parliamentary diplomacy," he stated.

Kurtulmuş stated that the genocidal forces occupying the homes and lands of Muslims in the West Bank have turned to physical violence, saying, "The last two actions of the Netanyahu gang, in particular, have exhausted all patience. It is absolutely unacceptable and should open the eyes of all Muslims and all of humanity. The first of these is keeping Al-Aqsa Mosque closed throughout the month of Ramadan. This is a direct attack on the 2 billion-strong Islamic world and the beliefs of Muslims. We know very well that the real issue behind this closure decision is not a security justification. The Israeli government's real intention is to start the process of preparing for the destruction of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Zionist administration is preparing for a final apocalyptic war stemming from its own deviant religious ideologies, and it may see the destruction of Al-Aqsa Mosque as a milestone for this. However, let them not dream in vain, let them not be in a fantasy; neither the Islamic world nor humanity will ever allow the destruction of Al-Aqsa Mosque. This is a major crime against humanity. It means that when a Palestinian commits the same crime, the death penalty will be applied, but when someone else does, a different law will be applied. This is completely unjustifiable.

The whole world must be vigilant about this and must oppose it to the end. Just like the genocide in Gaza, the world is now facing a major test with this decision taken by the Israeli parliament. We will see whether they will brush this off with a couple of weak protest statements, or whether the whole world, especially the Western world, will take action to stop this double standard and this wrong practice in such an important legal area. We will see. With this decision, we understand that Israel wants to expand the genocide in Gaza to the West Bank through legal means. The world must not allow this. We will continue to fight for what can be done on the international stage regarding this matter until the end.

On this occasion, I wish God's mercy upon our Palestinian martyrs, and I wish patience, resilience, and courage to all the Palestinian people. I hope that it will be our destiny to see the establishment of a free Palestinian state from the river to the sea as soon as possible. I hope and wish that the opportunity to serve your people as the leaders of such a free Palestinian state will arise for you as well. As the Turkish nation, this is our common prayer. We are making every effort with all our strength to fulfill the requirements of these prayers," he said.

Pointing to the attacks in the West Bank and Jerusalem, al-Sheikh said, "The steadfastness and resistance of our Palestinian people are truly commendable. This people is working with great sacrifices to remain attached to their land," he said.

Al-Sheikh stated that the Palestinian people, Arabs, and Muslims appreciate the support of the friendly and brotherly country of Turkey, adding, "Palestinians continue their efforts to achieve their freedom and independence. Our ultimate goal is the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital," he stated.
