Passenger bus and truck collide in Zonguldak: 2 dead, 23 injured

Two people lost their lives and 23 others were injured following a collision between a passenger bus and a truck in the Gökçebey district of Zonguldak.
The accident occurred on the Gökçebey-Yenice road in the Karahatipler area, involving a Metro Turizm passenger bus with license plate 61 S 0870, which was traveling from Bartın to Erzurum, and a log-carrying truck with license plate 37 HB 447.
Upon notification, gendarmerie, medical, and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene.
Injured passengers trapped in the bus were extracted by fire crews and handed over to medical personnel.
Medical teams, who determined that both the bus and truck drivers had lost their lives, transported the 23 injured individuals to Gökçebey State Hospital.
The road was closed to traffic due to the accident, and Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu arrived at the scene to conduct inspections.
Meanwhile, a cat found in front of its owner, who was trapped in the bus, was rescued from the vehicle by fire crews and handed over to gendarmerie officers.
Governor Hacıbektaşoğlu stated to reporters that there were 21 passengers and 3 crew members on the bus traveling from Bartın to Erzurum, saying, "Unfortunately, the bus and truck drivers lost their lives; we wish them God's mercy and offer our condolences to their families. The other 23 people, including passengers and crew, have been evacuated; 3 of them are in serious condition. We wish everyone a speedy recovery. We are monitoring the condition of our injured. Our teams are working to extract the two drivers who passed away and are trapped."
In response to a journalist's question regarding the cause of the accident, Hacıbektaşoğlu replied:
"There is a lane violation, but we do not know the specifics yet; our colleagues will examine and investigate this, and they will determine it definitively. Currently, the weather is rainy; we do not know if it was caused by a lane violation, an overtaking maneuver, or skidding; it will be fully revealed by the investigation."
