A passenger bus that departed from Kocaeli for İzmir suddenly caught fire at the entrance of the Orhangazi Tunnel on the Bursa-Istanbul highway. Noticing the flames, the bus driver pulled the vehicle over to the right lane and evacuated the 35 passengers.
The fire, which turned the bus into a fireball in a short time, was captured on camera, and numerous fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the area upon notification. The fire was extinguished by fire crews.
MEDICAL TEAMS INTERVENED
It was learned that 2 passengers who fled into the tunnel during the fire were affected by smoke. While the 16 citizens who received initial intervention from medical teams are not in life-threatening condition, traffic was halted as a precautionary measure.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
