Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Zoning Director Ramazan Gülten was unable to attend his wife's birth because he is currently imprisoned. Pınar Çalışkan Gülten, who had a high-risk pregnancy, gave birth to a baby girl today. Ramazan Gülten published a message expressing his sadness over not being able to attend the birth.

Pınar Çalışkan Gülten wrote the following on social media after the birth:

"Welcome Maya,

Your first breath, your first cry mixed into the world, the room filled with your scent. A smile born amidst tears, a new beginning.

May love, hope, and light grow with you. May injustice end!

May mothers, fathers, and children be reunited. And among them, us, to our most beloved @ramazangulten..."

In his message addressed to his daughter, Ramazan Gülten said, "Welcome, my beautiful daughter! I tried very hard to be by your mother's side today and to hold you in my arms, but it seems that our experiencing this moment together was not important to some. You arrived in good health, welcome. We will wait a little longer to meet."
