Pevrul Kavlak has passed away

TÜRK-İŞ Vice President and Honorary President of the Turkish Metal Union Pevrul Kavlak has passed away.

CEREMONY TO BE HELD IN FRONT OF THE UNION

The following statement was provided by TÜRK-İŞ: 

TÜRK-İŞ Vice President, Honorary President of the Turkish Metal Union, and a valuable trade unionist raised by our country's labor movement, our president Pevrul Kavlak, passed away today (Saturday, February 24, 2024) as a result of the relentless illness he was battling.

A ceremony will be held for our late President tomorrow (Sunday, February 25, 2024) at 12:00 PM in front of the Turkish Metal Union, followed by his burial in the family cemetery after the funeral prayer to be held at the Kavlak Mosque in Kırıkkale during the afternoon (ikindi) prayer time.

WHO IS PEVRUL KAVLAK?

Pevrul Kavlak was born in Kırıkkale in 1962. He began his professional life in 1979 at the M.K.E.K. Weapons and Rifle Factory. In 1991, he started working at Profilo Telra Elektronik San. A.Ş. in Çerkezköy.

In 1992, he was elected as the Branch Financial Secretary at the 4th Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish Metal Union's Çerkezköy Branch, as Branch Secretary at the 5th Ordinary General Assembly in 1995, and as Branch President at the 6th Ordinary General Assembly of the Çerkezköy Branch on August 16, 1998.

In 2002, he was appointed as the General Secretary of the Turkish Metal Union. Elected as the President of the Turkish Metal Union in 2009, Kavlak was currently serving as the General Secretary of TÜRK-İŞ.

Pevrul Kavlak, who was married and a father of two, also authored a book titled "Social Trade Unionism" published in 2012.
