An indictment has been prepared against the members of the 'Newborn Gang,' who caused the deaths and permanent disabilities of numerous babies in order to obtain illegal financial gains through the Social Security Institution (SGK). The indictment includes phone conversations between Hakan Doğukan Taşçı, an emergency medical technician at Birinci Hospital, and Hasan Basri Gök, a nurse tasked with patient monitoring at 11 different hospitals.
"WE ARE GOING TO END UP IN PRISON FOR A FEW PENNIES"
In the conversations between Gök and Taşçı, the following statements were recorded: "Doğukan, they are going to kill us. We are going to end up in prison for a few pennies. Forget about prison, they will kill us. We will get involved with the Turkmen mafia."
THEY CALCULATED THE MONEY TO BE MADE FROM DRUG SALES
According to the records in the indictment, another phone conversation showed Gök and Taşçı discussing the theft and sale of drugs used in the treatment of respiratory distress in premature babies. Taşçı told Gök: "Hasan, look, it seems simple to you, buddy, but they will arrest me. Don't look at the price we sell it for, brother. You took out 20, 10, 30 of them. The current price is 7 thousand liras. That drug makes 210 thousand liras after the SUT (Health Implementation Communiqué)."
It was determined that the gang members, who also calculated the money to be earned from the drugs and their percentage shares, used phrases such as "I'm talking about the box, look, it makes 10 thousand liras, Doğukan, calculate it," and "10 thousand is good money, buddy. I don't even have gas money."
