Footage has emerged of the moment Gezi Park trial prisoner Tayfun Kahraman was subjected to mistreatment and fell ill during a hospital transfer. In his column for T24, Murat Sabuncu shared the video of the moments Kahraman was subjected to mistreatment in a prison vehicle while being taken to the hospital due to his MS condition.

Reminding that no investigation permit was granted for the officers despite the assault report and the footage, according to Sabuncu, Kahraman's lawyer included the following statements in the complaint petition:

THE HANDCUFFS WERE TIGHT

“When the handcuffs were about to be placed on the client as usual, the client requested that the gendarmerie personnel loosen the handcuffs, which were initially applied very tightly, to a normal level. This request was relayed by the gendarmerie personnel who applied the handcuffs to their superior, and upon the superior's refusal, the handcuffs were tightened even further instead of being loosened. In this state, the client was taken out of the penal institution and continued the journey with the handcuffs squeezing his wrists until a break was taken (approximately 25 minutes). That the handcuffs were tightened to the point of causing bodily harm is proven by the in-vehicle camera recordings submitted to the file, the report kept by the doctor dated 28.08.2024, and the forensic examination report dated 30.08.2024.”
