Police intervene in HKP's NATO protest in Ankara: 19 people detained

Due to the NATO Summit to be held in Ankara on July 7-8, the AKP government has effectively declared a state of emergency in the capital and surrounding provinces, issuing a ban on demonstrations and protests.

The People's Liberation Party (HKP) had announced that they would hold a statement in front of the 1st TBMM Building in Ulus on July 5 against the NATO Summit.

19 PEOPLE DETAINED

Police intervened in the protest at 14:00.

According to 12punto's report, a total of 19 people were detained as a result of the police intervention, including 2 deputy chairmen, 2 general secretaries, and 6 lawyers.

According to the information received, the statements of the 19 people, 6 of whom are lawyers, will not be taken during the day. It has not yet been clarified when the statements of the 19 people will be taken.

The names of those detained are as follows:

Atty. Pınar Akbina Karaman, Atty. Doğan Zafer Çıngı, Atty. Fettah Ayhan Erkan, Atty. Tacettin Çolak, İbrahim Kıvılcım Çolak, and Atty. Sait Kıran
