Police intervention in private sector teachers' protest in Ankara: Union president Eren Edebali detained

Private sector teachers and victims of the interview system gathered in Ankara on June 14 to protest the injustices regarding their working conditions and wages. The group, which wanted to express its reaction against job insecurity and low salaries, had announced that it would organize a mass meeting following a call made days in advance.

The gathering, which began in Güvenpark in the morning, continued as the protesters marched toward the TBMM. However, the police prevented the press statement that was intended to be held in front of the parliament. During the intervention by security forces, the President of the Private Sector Teachers' Union, Eren Edebali, along with many union members, were detained.

It was initially reported that two people were detained by the police. However, it was learned that the number of detainees increased in the following hours and more teachers were taken into police vehicles. In a social media post made by the union, the situation was met with a reaction with the words "Teachers seeking their rights are being detained!" and footage of the moments of the incident was shared.

The union has been organizing various actions for a long time to draw attention to the losses experienced in the personal rights of education workers and the economic difficulties faced by private sector teachers.
