Police officer Cihat Ermiş martyred in armed attack in Büyükçekmece
Police officer Cihat Ermiş, who responded to a report in Istanbul's Büyükçekmece district, was martyred following an armed attack.

Police officer Cihat Ermiş, who responded to a report in Büyükçekmece, was martyred by gunfire opened from inside an apartment.
According to the information obtained, the incident occurred around 02:30 in the Muratçeşme neighborhood of Büyükçekmece. Police officer Cihat Ermiş, who went to the apartment where a suspect was located, was fired upon from inside. Seriously injured in the armed attack, police officer Ermiş was rushed to the hospital. Despite all interventions, Cihat Ermiş could not be saved and was martyred.
The suspect, identified as M.B.Ç., who carried out the attack, has been taken into custody. It was learned that the suspect has a long criminal record.

In a statement regarding the incident, the Istanbul Governor's Office said, "Police Officer Cihat Ermiş, serving at the Büyükçekmece District Police Department, went to the address in question to investigate a report from the Muratpaşa neighborhood of Büyükçekmece and arrived at the apartment where the suspect was located. While our police officer was entering the apartment with the help of a security guard, he was subjected to an armed attack by the suspect. Our police officer, who was seriously injured as a result of the attack, could not be saved despite the interventions at the hospital and was martyred. Following the incident, M.B.Ç. (born in 2003, with 32 prior criminal records), who was determined to have carried out the attack, was captured along with the weapon used in the attack and taken into custody."
It was learned that a ceremony for the martyred police officer Cihat Ermiş will be held at the Istanbul Police Department's Vatan Campus at 14:00, and the martyr will be laid to rest in Ankara.
