Police officer injured in accident passes away
The Istanbul Police Department announced that Police Officer Muhammed Erdem Yiğit, who served in the Sensitive Areas Protection Branch and was injured in an accident yesterday, has passed away.

The statement issued by the department is as follows:
Police Officer Muhammed Erdem YİĞİT, serving in the Istanbul Police Department's Sensitive Areas Protection Branch;
On Friday, 10.05.2024, while returning to his residence following the conclusion of his training course at the Adile Sadullah Mermerci Police School in the Kilyos neighborhood of Sarıyer at 16:00, he was involved in an accident after colliding with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Despite all interventions at the Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, where he was taken in critical condition, he could not be saved and passed away on the same day.
The funeral of our late police officer will be held on Saturday, 11.05.2024, at the Bağcılar 100. Yıl Central Mosque following the afternoon prayer, and after the funeral service and farewell ceremony, he will be laid to rest at the Sultangazi Cebeci Cemetery.
