Police officer loses life in armed brawl in İzmir

A police officer was shot during an armed brawl that began at a workplace and spilled into the street in the Çiğli district of İzmir. The police officer, who was critically wounded by the gunfire, lost his life at the hospital.

Individuals arriving in two cars at a workplace on 9501 Street in the İnönü neighborhood began an argument.

As the argument escalated into a brawl, the group exited the workplace, opened fire, and fled the area.

Police officer Mehmet Sıddık Temel, who was serving at the Karşıyaka District Police Department and was critically wounded by the gunfire, was rushed to the Çiğli Training and Research Hospital by bystanders.

Despite all medical interventions, Temel could not be saved, and his body was taken to the morgue of the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute.

Police have detained 7 suspects who fled the scene, along with the weapon used in the incident.

The moment shots were fired at the workplace was captured by a security camera in the vicinity.

The footage shows an individual arriving in front of the workplace, opening fire, and moving away, returning shortly after to open fire again, and then fleeing the scene in cars with the group accompanying them.
