Police officer stabbed while responding to fight report

In Konya, a police officer from a team responding to a report of a fight was stabbed in the back after a suspect attacked with a knife. The suspect was neutralized by police.

The incident occurred around 11:00 AM on Bayramoğlu Street in the Buhara neighborhood of the central Selçuklu district. According to information obtained, a request for a medical team was made for an individual experiencing a nervous breakdown. Police were requested at the address to take into custody the individual, who was allegedly armed with a knife and had also attacked their family. As the officers intervened, the individual stabbed a police officer in the back. Following this, the wounded officer's partner shot and neutralized the suspect.

Upon notification, numerous medical and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The wounded police officer was taken to the Necmettin Erbakan University Faculty of Medicine Hospital by ambulance for treatment after receiving initial intervention from medical teams at the scene. It was learned that the wounded suspect was taken to Konya City Hospital by ambulance.

A comprehensive investigation into the incident has been launched.
