Police officer who caught illegal migrants in a mosque referred to a psychologist! 'It's like a headquarters...'
It is alleged that a police officer who found more than 100 migrants in the Mekke Nur Mosque in Istanbul's Sarıyer district—a mosque reportedly used by the İsmailağa Community—was threatened by the imam, and one day later, his service weapon was confiscated and he was referred to a psychologist.

It has been alleged that illegal migrants were found in a mosque in Istanbul's Sarıyer district that is used by the İsmailağa Community.
According to a report by Hazar Dost from Sözcü, police officer Y.A., who was on duty in Istanbul's Sarıyer district, wanted to perform an identity check on a person wearing a turban and robe whom he suspected while on patrol on March 24.
The suspect, who stated he was Uzbek, said, “My passport is at the Mekke Nur Mosque, I am staying there. There are many people like me living there.” Upon this, police officer Y.A. went to the mosque.

While searching inside the mosque, the imam threatened the police officer, saying, “Don't mess with this place, do you want to be exiled?”

Y.A., who filed a report with his colleague, informed his team supervisors that “It's like a headquarters here” and that there were more than 100 Uzbek, Turkmen, and Tajik migrants inside the mosque.
After a while, his supervisors pressured Y.A. not to take action. However, police officer Y.A. processed and interrogated all of them. 11 were found to be illegal migrants. A striking detail was the presence of the Mekke Nur Quran Course, which is affiliated with the İsmailağa Community, located right next to the Mekke Nur Mosque. It is known from the course's social media page that the İsmailağa Community actively uses the mosque and that the community holds religious talks there.

According to the allegations, the next day the District Police Chief called police officer Y.A. to his office and asked about what had happened. The Chief's response to police officer Y.A. was, “You were hallucinating, your psychology is disturbed.” When the police officer, who was ordered to stand guard in a booth, replied, “I did not make a mistake, I do not accept this assignment,” the practice of “confiscating the weapon and referring to a psychologist,” which has been used as a tool of pressure within the General Directorate of Security for some time, was applied to Y.A. as well.
