Police questioning of 53 detainees to continue today

The police questioning of 53 people detained during house raids in 10 provinces on February 18 is ongoing. In the case file, which is under a confidentiality order, the statements of 25 people held in custody were completed yesterday.

The police questioning of 53 people detained during operations conducted in 10 provinces, centered in Istanbul, on February 18 will continue today.

A statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office reported that operations were carried out in 10 provinces against 60 individuals as part of an investigation into the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) structure. A total of 53 people have been detained in the operations so far.

QUESTIONING TO CONTINUE TODAY

In the case file, which is under a confidentiality order, the police statements of more than 25 people held in custody were completed yesterday. During the police questioning, questions were asked regarding the conferences and events of the HDK.

The questioning process will continue today.

Many members of the DBP, DEM Party, Revolutionary Party, EMEP, ESP, HDK, SYKP, and Green Left Party were detained in the house raids. Among those detained are EMEP Istanbul Provincial Chair Sema Barbaros, DEM Party Central Executive Committee (MYK) member Mehmet Saltoğlu, DEM Party Iğdır Provincial Chair Alya Akkuş, SYKP Party Assembly (PM) members Halit Elçi and Ahmet Saymadi, Green Left Party MYK member Naci Sönmez, lawyer Yıldız İmrek, journalists Yıldız Tar, Elif Akgül, Ender İmrek, and Ercüment Akdeniz, as well as musician Pınar Aydınlar, painter Taner Güven, and screenwriter Ayşe Bengi.
