Claims that a riot had broken out at the Konya E-Type Closed Penal Institution during the night brought inmates' relatives to the front of the prison. As the rumors spread quickly, a crowd formed in the area, and numerous police teams were dispatched to the location.

Konya Provincial Police Chief Necmettin Koç, who arrived at the prison, addressed the crowd with a megaphone. Koç stated that the necessary inspections had been carried out at the facility and that there was no unrest or attempted riot inside.

The families' wait in front of the prison continued until the early hours of the morning. The Konya Provincial Police Department also issued a written statement regarding the allegations.

''It has been observed that some press outlets and websites on 10.08.2026 have published reports stating that a 'Riot Broke Out at Konya Prison.' These reports are unfounded; there is no such situation as a riot at Konya Prison, and such reports have no basis in truth. The authorized institutions of the state are conducting the necessary investigations and monitoring regarding this type of disinformation.''

The Police Department emphasized that the public should not give credence to unfounded allegations that mislead the public and create panic.
