Police take action for threatened journalists Şule Aydın and Murat Ağırel: Governor's Office to evaluate protection decision

It has emerged that a tip-off regarding an attack on journalists Murat Ağırel and Şule Aydın, known for their reporting on criminal gangs, was received. Following the tip-off, the police have taken action.

Hüseyin Ersöz, the lawyer for journalists Şule Aydın and Murat Ağırel, who have received threats of an attack, stated that Aydın and Ağırel have been summoned to provide statements. Regarding the issuance of a protection order, he said, "We were informed that after the statement-taking process, the evaluation regarding protection measures will be conducted by the Istanbul Governor's Office." 

It has emerged that a tip-off regarding an attack on journalists Murat Ağırel and Şule Aydın was received following their reporting on criminal gangs.

A criminal complaint was filed with the prosecutor's office by Ağırel and Aydın's lawyer, Ersöz. Providing an update on the developments in the process, their lawyer Hüseyin Ersöz made a statement. 

Ersöz stated the following:

"We were just called by the Istanbul Organized Crime Investigation Bureau. Upon the instruction of the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, journalists Şule Aydın and Murat Ağırel will be called to provide statements as complainants. We were informed that after the statement-taking process, the evaluation regarding protection measures will be conducted by the Istanbul Governor's Office. We wanted to provide this update due to the sensitivity of the matter and the public's concern."
