A lottery was held to determine the positions of the political parties participating in the Local Administration General Elections to be held on Sunday, March 31, on the ballot paper.

According to the election calendar announced by the Supreme Election Council (YSK), a lottery was held today at the YSK headquarters with the participation of party representatives to determine the positions of the political parties participating in the election on the combined ballot paper.

36 parties eligible to participate in the election are able to join the lottery. The phrase "Political Parties" will appear at the top of the combined ballot papers to be used in the mayoral election, and if there are independent candidates, the phrase "Political Parties and Independent Candidates" will be used. According to the results of the lottery, the names and surnames of the parties and candidates will be determined on the ballot from left to right.

Additionally, the Yenilik Party, which is among the 36 parties eligible to participate in the election, previously notified the YSK that it would not participate in the Local Administration General Elections.

Highlights from the statements of YSK President Ahmet Yener:

"Welcome to the lottery ceremony to be held by our Council regarding the determination of the positions of our political parties that will participate in the Local Administration General Elections to be held on Sunday, March 31, 2024, on the combined ballot paper.

With the YSK decision, 36 political parties eligible to participate in the election have been identified and announced. Since the Yenilik Party stated that it would not participate in the Local Administration General Elections during the process running in the election calendar, 35 of our political parties will participate in the lottery. Also, during the ongoing process, since the Great Turkey Party, one of our political parties participating in the election, changed its name to the Ocak Party, it will participate in the lottery with this name."
