Pope alert in Iznik: 2,300 police officers to be on duty

The spiritual leader of Catholics and Head of the Vatican State, Pope Leo XIV, has arrived in Turkey for his first official overseas visit.
On the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, one of the most important sites in the history of Christianity, Pope Leo XIV will pay a visit to Iznik on Friday, November 28.
Ahead of the historic visit, security teams are maintaining high-level security and inspections, with 200 police officers currently stationed at the city's entry and exit points.
Suspicious vehicles are being searched and identity checks are being conducted at the city's entry and exit points. Furthermore, according to information received from officials, 2,300 personnel will be on duty on the day of the visit.
