Pope's call for Gaza: 'The wounded must be helped urgently, civilians must be protected'
Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of Catholics and Head of State of the Vatican, stated that the wounded in Gaza must be helped urgently, civilians must be protected, and more aid must be delivered to the people in dire need.

Delivering his traditional Sunday prayer from the window of his study overlooking St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, the Pope made assessments regarding Israel's attacks on Gaza and developments in Sudan following the prayer.
Emphasizing that he continues to think about the serious situation in Israel and Palestine, Pope Francis stated, "I am with all those who are suffering, Palestinians and Israelis. I embrace them in this dark moment and I pray for them very much. Let the weapons stop. Weapons will never bring peace, and conflicts must not spread. Enough, my brothers, enough."
Drawing attention to the situation in Gaza, the Pope continued his words as follows:
"In Gaza, the wounded must be helped urgently, civilians must be protected, and much more humanitarian aid must be delivered to this exhausted population. The hostages, among whom are many elderly and children, must be released. Every human being, whether Christian, Jewish, or Muslim, of any people or religion, is sacred, precious in the eyes of God, and has the right to live in peace."

Stating that the country is going through a civil war where many people are victims and have been forced to leave their homes, the Pope said, "I am close to the suffering of the dear people of Sudan and I call on local authorities to 'promote humanitarian aid and work to reach peaceful solutions with the contribution of the international community'."
