For the past two days, Turkey has been talking about the pork found in the meat of a famous meatball chain. According to the allegations, the company obtained a court order to hide its name from the list shared by the Ministry.

THE CLAIM THAT STIRRED UP TROUBLE

As the debates continue, some social media accounts posted claims yesterday that pork was reclassified as butcher's meat during the AK Party era.

STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY

In a statement made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry following the allegations, it was stated that there is no definition or reference to pork in the legislation and that the reports do not reflect the truth.

"THERE IS NO SUCH DEFINITION OR REFERENCE IN THE COMMUNIQUÉ"

The Ministry's statement included the following expressions:

"The Turkish Food Codex Communiqué on Raw Red Meat and Prepared Red Meat Mixtures, which is being circulated by some social media accounts as 'pork has been reclassified as butcher's meat,' is not in effect. There is no definition, expression, or reference to pork in the Turkish Food Codex Communiqué on Meat and Prepared Meat Mixtures, which is currently in force regarding meat products.

All inspections carried out by our Ministry are meticulously continued within the framework of these and other legislative provisions. The disinformation, manipulation, slander, and lies made on this subject via social media do not reflect the truth."
