Praise for Haldun Dormen from İlber Ortaylı: 'He succeeded all on his own'
Historian Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı said of the late veteran theater actor Haldun Dormen, "He attempted to provide the same service in Istanbul that our state provided to the generations of the Republic in Ankara, and he succeeded in doing so. He spent his life, his time, and his fortune on this path and raised unforgettable people. Many of our actors who are famous today are on our stages thanks to his support and productions."

Haldun Dormen, the master of Turkish theater who passed away at the age of 97, will be laid to rest in the family cemetery at Edirnekapı Martyrs' Cemetery following a memorial ceremony to be held at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage on Sunday, January 25. İlber Ortaylı shared a post on social media for the master actor.

"The great man of the Turkish theater and cinema world, Haldun Dormen, left us on Wednesday, January 21. He attempted to provide the same service in Istanbul that our state provided to the generations of the Republic in Ankara, and he succeeded in doing so.
He spent his life, his time, and his fortune on this path and raised unforgettable people. Many of our actors who are famous today are on our stages thanks to his support and productions. We will try to describe this life in more detail next week. We will keep the memory of a person who fulfilled his duty alive."
