President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended and delivered a speech at the TRT World Forum held at the Istanbul Congress Center.
Making significant statements, President Erdoğan said, "I am pleased to be with you, esteemed participants who do not remain indifferent to the future of the world. We consider the TRT World Forum as a platform where the search for solutions to the world's problems takes concrete form. I have learned that participants from over 30 countries are attending this year's forum. Our theme this year, a world at a breaking point, clearly shows that we are discussing the transformation of the world. Within the scope of the forum, the issues threatening our world will be addressed, and the steps that need to be taken to solve these issues will be evaluated," he stated.
Expressing his hope that the forum will offer effective solutions to the problems of our age, Erdoğan said, "Today, the world is writhing in the grip of wars, conflicts, violations, and inequalities. Wherever we turn our faces, we see drama, we see deepening injustices. Competition between states is becoming more destructive by the day. Humanity is at a turning point. Events are taking place that will affect the future of our children. The humanitarian crises ongoing in many geographies reveal the fragility of the current world order. Every crisis is also an opportunity. It is a window of opportunity that opens to justice, peace, security, and tranquility. When we look at the history of humanity, we encounter countless examples of this," he said.
"THE UN MUST BE COMPLETELY REFORMED"
President Erdoğan continued his statements with the following words:
"Can we continue with this UN as it is now? No. It must be completely reformed. The world cannot be left to the mercy of 5 permanent members. Change is needed rapidly. 5 permanent members, 15 non-permanent members... It won't work. The world cannot be governed this way. We are no longer in the conditions of World War II. A serious change is essential. The fate of 194 countries cannot be left to the lips of one of the 5 permanent members. There are many institutions that have come into being to avoid experiencing similar pains, problems, and violations again during times of crisis. We all know very well that what matters is practice, implementation. It is the effectiveness of these institutions.
We witnessed this truth again with the Gaza crisis. The Russia-Ukraine war has shown us the weakness of the international system. As a result of Israel's attacks on Gaza, 50 thousand Palestinians were torn from life. Cities were destroyed. In Gaza, where 2.3 million people live, almost no buildings remain standing due to the attacks. Every principle regarding the laws of war was exceeded, violated, and trampled upon. 189 media members were killed."
WE ARE READY TO PUT OUR ENTIRE BODY UNDER THE BURDEN
Regarding Gaza, Erdoğan said:
"If we do not take action today, when will we? The pain of the oppressed is the pain of us all. Consenting to oppression is oppression itself. Those who stand by the oppressor become partners in their oppression. As Turkey, with our state and nation, we are raising our voices against the oppressor in Gaza. We are ready to put not just our hands, but our entire bodies under the burden for the path to lasting peace in Gaza."
ERDOĞAN CRITICIZED "PROVOCATIVE" TV BROADCASTS
"TV series filmed with the concern of viewership provide no benefit to our culture or our values. We see that violence is legitimized, alcohol and drugs are encouraged, and deviant and perverse relationships are normalized just to get ratings. With broadcasts that serve to shake our internal front, our Turkish family structure is being targeted, and the family is almost portrayed as the source of evils. We are against the structure called LGBT, which is an enemy of the family. Recently, the nerves of our nation are being deliberately played with. This is a social engineering project. We remember very well how the stones were laid on the path leading to February 28."
Finally, Erdoğan congratulated the TRT broadcasts exported abroad and ended his speech with the words, "I thank everyone who does not hesitate to put their hand under the burden. I greet you all with respect and affection."
