President Erdoğan re-elected as AKP Chairman: He received all the votes

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan won the chairmanship election held at the 8th Ordinary Grand Congress. The 8th Ordinary Grand Congress of the AKP took place today at the Ankara Arena. While numerous guests from around the world attended the congress, approximately 60,000 people followed the event from outside the venue.

Following his approximately one-hour speech at the congress, Erdoğan was re-elected as chairman after receiving the votes of all 1,547 delegates in the election where he ran as the sole candidate.

Erdoğan delivered significant messages on many topics, ranging from the economy to foreign policy.

In his speech at the congress, touching upon the party's future goals and Turkey's development vision, Erdoğan stated the following:

'As the AK Party, we will continue to work to carry our country further with the support of our nation.'

CHANGES IN DUTIES WITHIN THE AKP

Significant changes were also made to the members of the AKP Central Decision and Administrative Board (MKYK) at the congress. While 39 new names were included in the MKYK list, 52 percent of the board was renewed with these changes. Signals were given for a transition to a young and dynamic structure within the party.

The new MKYK also includes former football player Mesut Özil, Esra Yazıcı Özbudun, who resigned from the Future Party (Gelecek Partisi) yesterday, and former IYI Party member Kürşad Zorlu.

BAHÇELİ EXTENDED CONGRATULATIONS

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli called President Erdoğan by phone to convey his congratulations following his re-election as chairman.

Wishing Erdoğan success, Bahçeli stated that the cooperation between the two would continue.
