Erdoğan is making important statements following today's Cabinet Meeting.
Highlights from the statements of AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan:
We do not step into water without seeing the bottom. We are meticulously managing all processes under the guidance of a thousand-year legacy. We are acting with strategic wisdom and patience. We continue our path with the prayers of the oppressed and the victims.
We are as excited as the millions who have turned their faces toward our country in the face of the dawn of the Century of Türkiye, which is breaking slowly. We possess more than enough strength to overcome every obstacle. We are preserving and defending the rights, laws, and interests of our country in the face of increasing threats.
We do not care about any of the fake, flawed agendas that the opposition is trying to drag us into. With the reality that those whose two days are equal are in loss, we try to utilize every day in the service of our nation. We have not embarrassed our nation, and we have never been embarrassed.
We held our Cabinet Meeting last week in an atmosphere of deep sorrow due to the fire in Bolu. Despite the two weeks that have passed since the tragedy, our pain and our anger are still very great. We will do whatever is necessary to ensure that all those responsible are held accountable before the judiciary. Everyone responsible, especially the greedy ones who did not spend on fire safety measures because they thought it would be an expense, will be held accountable one by one.
Our tourism sector also needs to put its full weight behind fighting greed. You cannot invest less in service while earning more money every year. Our tourism revenue has broken a record. Our target for 2025 is 65 million visitors and 64 billion dollars in revenue. Hopefully, we hope to reach the 100 billion dollar figure in the near future. An approach that does not give the necessary value to human life and dignity has no chance of success.
Health is among the areas where our governments have invested the most in the last 22 years. We experienced our health system capacity, especially during the pandemic period. We are improving the health system according to changing conditions. We announced the Healthy Century of Türkiye program. We are integrating our family physicians into the hospital appointment system. We aim to strengthen our preventive infrastructure services by opening 1,000 additional family health centers. Early diagnosis was made for 620 thousand citizens for serious diseases. Necessary referrals were made for their examinations and treatments.
We aim to bring the use of antibiotics and painkillers to reasonable levels.
Another step has been taken to further increase the quality of our health services. Some changes were made by our Ministry in the regulation on private hospitals. A different culture will now be established in service, fees, and supervision.
Thursday, February 6, is the 2nd anniversary of the earthquakes where we laid more than 53 thousand of our lives to rest. Since the first day, we have made evaluations regarding the work carried out in the earthquake zone at every Cabinet meeting. We did whatever was necessary to overcome the obstacles.
Before even 2 years have passed since the earthquake, we have delivered 201 thousand 431 independent units. Hopefully, we will be the guest of Adıyaman on Thursday.
We received the latest information from our relevant ministers at our Cabinet Meeting. Our goal is to make our cities better than they were before, with their infrastructure and superstructure, and their historical and natural beauties. Regardless of their political preference, we will not leave our earthquake victims to the mercy of earthquake tourists. The tremors experienced in the Aegean by Greece over the last few days remind us both of the importance of the work we have done and that the earthquake is a matter of survival. Let us state once again that local administrators should now give this event the importance it deserves and make cities earthquake-resistant rather than chasing political gain.
Prisoner and hostage exchanges continue despite all of Israel's provocations. As we see the determination of our Gazan brothers and sisters to protect their homes, our respect for them increases even more. We must not leave our Gazan brothers and sisters alone during this period.
