President Erdoğan to visit Egypt after 10 years

It has been learned that Erdoğan will meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on February 14. This visit will be the first to Egypt since 2013.

The two countries, whose relations were interrupted in 2013, are coming together again after 10 years.

AMBASSADORS APPOINTED

Relations gained significant momentum following the decision to mutually appoint ambassadors between the two countries.

AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan is preparing to pay an official visit to Egypt after a hiatus of approximately 10 years.

According to a report by Bloomberg, the visit is expected to take place on February 14.

MAIN AGENDA IS GAZA

Erdoğan's visit to Egypt will focus on the Israel-Hamas war and the goals of increasing cooperation between Ankara and Cairo in the Eastern Mediterranean.

In the meeting between AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, it is expected that steps to be taken for humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza and ending the war will be discussed.

LAST VISIT WAS IN 2013

This visit will be the first to Egypt since 2013.

The first meeting after years took place in Qatar.

In December 2022, Erdoğan and Egyptian President Sisi held a meeting at the opening of the FIFA 2022 World Cup held in Qatar.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to upgrade diplomatic relations between the two countries and mutually appoint ambassadors.

After the second round of the presidential elections, Sisi called Erdoğan on the phone to congratulate him on his election success.

The last meeting between the two leaders took place at the G-20 summit held in India in recent weeks.
