President Erdoğan: We are determined to develop our cooperation with Algeria

Speaking at a joint press conference with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Erdoğan made significant remarks, stating, "We are determined to strengthen our cooperation with Algeria, one of our largest partners on the African continent, in many areas, particularly in energy and agriculture."

We last met with Mr. Tebboune in Algeria, where we announced our high-level cooperation council. Today, we chaired our first meeting together and took decisions that will carry our brotherhood to an advanced level. Our cooperation with Algeria is developing. Our trade volume target with Algeria is 10 billion dollars.

The locomotive of Turkey-Algeria relations is the mutual respect and affection stemming from our shared history. We see this spirit of solidarity today not only in our bilateral relations but also in the common stance we adopt on many international issues. We are determined to develop our cooperation with Algeria, one of our largest trading partners on the African continent, in many strategic areas, primarily energy, mining, transportation, and agriculture.

We have increased our efforts in line with the 10 billion dollar trade target we set in 2023. More than 1,600 of our companies in Algeria are undertaking significant projects and investments in the fields of industry, mining, agriculture, construction, the pharmaceutical industry, and infrastructure, with investments totaling 8 billion dollars.

We are advancing our long-term cooperation regarding energy supply security, especially natural gas, with each passing day.

Our private sector representatives met at the business forum held in Ankara today and discussed new cooperation opportunities. Hopefully, by working together in the coming period, we will add new ones to our mutual investments and private sector collaborations.

"WAR AFFECTS THE ENERGY MARKET"

Israeli aggression has once again shown that the real security problem for our region is the current government's expansionist policies that recognize no law or rules. The war in our region, which began with Israel's provocations and schemes, continues to negatively affect energy markets in particular.

As Turkey, we developed reliable, stable, and sustainable partnerships years ago. At this stage, we are strengthening our long-term cooperation regarding energy supply security, especially natural gas.

We believe that we should evaluate partnership opportunities in the fields of renewable energy and new technologies. We are also beginning to realize the potential for cooperation in the mining sector through joint investments and the mutual sharing of experience.

We are ready to contribute to Algeria's agricultural prosperity in the field of agriculture and food security, which has become one of the most critical issues of our time. We believe that our cooperation in the defense industry will contribute to the security of both our countries and our region.

We also attach great importance to the mutual opening of cultural centers that will rivet the bonds of brotherhood between us. Today, I exchanged views with Mr. Tebboune on regional and international issues. I was pleased to see that we have similar approaches to the fundamental issues concerning Algeria, Africa, and our region.

In accordance with our understanding of regional ownership, we attach great importance to strengthening the security and stability of Syria. We will resolutely continue our contributions to the reconstruction of Syria. As Turkey and Algeria, we share a common stance on ending the spiral of violence that seriously threatens the peace and security of our region. We will continue to advance our friendship and cooperation with Algeria in every field with a win-win approach.
