Describing his party's tenure as an 'Anatolian revolution,' AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan stated that he wishes to remain in office for many more years.
Erdoğan used the following expressions in his statement:
Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the November 3, 2002 elections, which have gone down in Turkish political history as the “Anatolian revolution.”
We carry the same excitement and pride in our very cells today as we did exactly 23 years ago, when we first received the favor of our nation at the ballot box.
As of today, we are leaving behind our 23rd year in power with glory and honor, and beginning our 24th year.
We are experiencing the justified pride of setting a new record in our multi-party democratic history.
I wholeheartedly congratulate all my colleagues who have served in our councils of ministers and cabinets from the 58th Government to the present; I express my gratitude to each of them individually for their services to our country, our nation, and our cause.
I likewise thank every member of our beloved nation who has not withheld their support and prayers from us in all the elections we have entered.
We are as passionate about serving Turkey and the Turkish nation as we were on the first day.
Hopefully, we will continue to produce services for our nation and grow Turkey with determination, love, enthusiasm, and passion for many more years to come.
