Presidential budgets compared: Resources allocated to the Palace surpass European leaders
As deliberations on the Presidential budget continue in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), the budget allocated to the Palace for 2026 has surpassed the presidential expenditures of many countries in Europe.

As the Presidential budget was being discussed in the General Assembly of the TBMM, the projected expenditure for the Palace for 2026 was compared with the presidential budgets of certain European countries.
According to a report in Sözcü, İYİ Party İzmir Deputy Hüsmen Kırkpınar stated that the Palace budget, which is planned to utilize approximately 600 million Euros in 2026, exceeds the 60 million Euro budget allocated for President Emmanuel Macron’s Elysee Palace in France and the 126 million Euros allocated to President Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s Bellevue Palace in Germany.
According to the data shared by Kırkpınar, the 224 million Euro budget allocated for President Sergio Mattarella’s Quirinal Palace in Italy also remained below the resources allocated to the Palace.
Out of Turkey’s total budget of approximately 450 billion Euros determined for 2026, 600 million Euros were allocated to the Palace. In the same period, 126 million Euros of Germany’s 444.9 billion Euro budget, 60 million Euros of France’s 500 billion Euro budget, and 224 million Euros of Italy’s 750 billion Euro budget were allocated to presidential expenditures.
In his assessment of the matter, Kırkpınar stated, “The budgets allocated to the Presidency in Germany and France, two major members of the EU, are much lower than in Turkey.”
On the other hand, according to ChatGPT data regarding the world’s largest presidential complexes, a ranking made among active palaces found only in republican regimes also drew attention.
According to the list, the Presidential Palace in Turkey is the world’s largest presidential complex with an area of approximately 1 million square meters. The Külliye stands out with its structure that does not consist of a single building.
While the Ak Orda Palace in Astana, Kazakhstan, is among the largest single-piece presidential palaces with a closed area of approximately 36 thousand 700 square meters, the Blue House in Seoul, South Korea, is on the list as a complex consisting of multiple structures with an area of approximately 250 thousand square meters.
The Kremlin in Russia is also included in the ranking as a complex that houses historical structures in addition to its administrative function, with an area of approximately 275 thousand square meters.
