Presidential 'March 8 circular' published in the Official Gazette: 'Women's Empowerment Board' established

With the "Women's Empowerment" circular published in the Official Gazette under Erdoğan's signature, the "Women's Empowerment Coordination Board" has been established.
NEW POLICIES FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTS
According to the circular, efforts will be carried out to enable women to play a more effective role in many areas such as education, science, politics, economy, environment, and climate change. Women's entrepreneurship will be encouraged, and mechanisms to increase equal opportunity in working life will be developed. In addition, various regulations will be made to increase women's participation in political life and ensure they take a greater part in decision-making processes. Necessary solution proposals will be addressed to ensure the full and effective participation of women in the workforce and to support women's entrepreneurship.
New programs will be implemented to create social awareness regarding gender equality. All these efforts will be carried out within the framework of the "Women's Empowerment Strategy Document and Action Plan (2024-2028)."
WHO WILL COMPRISE THE BOARD?
The board, created to strengthen women's rights, will include the Minister of Family and Social Services as chair; the relevant deputy ministers from the Ministries of Justice, Labor and Social Security, Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Interior, National Education, Health, Industry and Technology, Agriculture and Forestry, and Trade; as well as high-level representatives authorized to make decisions from the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, the Directorate of Communications, the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey, the Council of Higher Education, the Radio and Television Supreme Council, the Information and Communication Technologies Authority, the Social Security Institution, the Turkish Employment Agency, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization, and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey Women Entrepreneurs Board, along with the General Director of the Status of Women.
The board will meet at least once a year and may hold extraordinary meetings when necessary. Universities, non-governmental organizations, and private sector representatives may also be included in its work.
