The full text of Şener's statement is as follows:

"The incident that occurred yesterday has deeply shaken our family. I would like to thank all our friends who have expressed their condolences and shared our pain, to whom I have been unable to respond.

Along with other issues, my son Bedirhan has suffered from psychological problems due to the distress of being unemployed for years. Later, while he was working as a parliamentary staff member in the party group, some media members turned his recruitment into the parliamentary staff at the lowest salary into a tool to settle scores with me, and this situation aggravated his psychological problems.

As his health was not good and he was not answering our calls, we went to my son Bedirhan's home yesterday evening with my wife Berrin and his mother, fearing for his life. While I was busy parking the car, my wife and his mother went up to my son's apartment and rang the doorbell; as soon as he opened the door, he began firing at those in front of him, and this regrettable incident occurred. My son loved his grandmother very much; he would stay with her from time to time, and his grandmother would stay with him.

In an environment where my wife is undergoing cancer treatment, we express our sadness regarding those who publish careless and error-filled reports and comments, and we expect them to respect our family's pain during these difficult days we are experiencing.

Abdullatif ŞENER"
