Price hike scenarios from Deniz Yavuzyılmaz: It will hurt both low and high electricity consumers

CHP Deputy Chairman responsible for Public Audit and Anti-Corruption, Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, made the following statement on his social media account regarding the 25 percent hike in electricity and natural gas by the decision of EMRA:

"We have revealed the AKP's electricity price hike game with figures. The 25 percent 'silent' price hike operation carried out through EMRA will, as of April 4, 2026, hurt both those who consume little electricity and those who consume a lot! So, how will the AKP's April 4 electricity hike be reflected in bills according to 4 different electricity consumption scenarios?

Scenario 1. Living alone/Pensioner - 150 kWh monthly consumption: Even at the lowest consumption, the bill has increased from 389 TL to 488 TL! Even if you save, you hit the AKP's price hike wall!

Scenario 2. Family of 4 – 230 kWh monthly consumption: The cost of the bill, which is the average consumption of a family living on a tight budget, has increased from 596 TL to 744 TL!

Scenario 3. Threshold Line – 240 kWh monthly consumption: For subscribers who consume 8 kWh or more per day, where the 'tiered tariff' trap begins, the 933 TL bill has increased to 1,166 TL!

Scenario 4. High Consumption – 300 kWh monthly consumption: In the case of 300 kWh monthly consumption, which can be easily reached by subscribers who use ovens, washing machines, dishwashers, irons, air conditioners, and technological products with 'normal' frequency, the bill has increased from 1,166 TL to 1,457 TL! This is called exploiting the energy of all citizens, regardless of whether they consume little or a lot! Note: Since the national tariff has not yet been announced, the 25% hike has been distributed proportionally to the cost items on the bill."
