Prison sentence requested for comedian Tuba Ulu
In the investigation launched due to the remarks made by comedian Tuba Ulu during her stand-up show regarding Suleiman the Magnificent and Hurrem Sultan, the prosecutor's office has requested a prison sentence of up to three years for Ulu.

The investigation into Tuba Ulu, who was detained following the remark, "Even Suleiman the Magnificent married his f*ck buddy," made during her stand-up performance titled 'Lady Malumat', has been completed. Ulu, who was detained under the instructions of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, had been released following her processing at the police station.
The indictment prepared against Ulu states that the humorous remark made is considered to fall under the crime of 'inciting the public to hatred and hostility'. The prosecutor's office has requested that Ulu be sentenced to up to 3 years in prison for this offense.
Tuba Ulu will appear before a judge at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance in the coming months. The court process in the case, in which the comedian will be tried without arrest, will be followed closely.
