Prison sentence requested for famous actor Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu in 'boycott call' investigation!

An investigation had been launched into 21 people, including actor Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, who supported a boycott call that began on social media on April 2 following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
The investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been completed. The prepared indictment requests up to 7 years and 6 months in prison for 21 people, including Üzümoğlu.
The indictment states that these 21 individuals made calls on social media for the cessation of all commercial activities across the country in response to ongoing investigations into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and certain district municipalities. It was stated that these calls were intended to incite hostility among the public based on social classes in a manner contrary to the common values of society, fueled hatred and division, and simultaneously posed a clear and imminent threat to public order.
“I AM FINDING OUT WHERE THE TEŞKİLAT SET IS, SHALL WE RAID IT?”
The indictment also included findings from the examination of Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu’s mobile phone. It was noted that the actor sent messages in a messaging group called “Actors Union,” which included many people, such as “I am finding out where the Teşkilat set is, shall we raid it?”, “Let’s stop the set,” and “I learned their locations today to raid the set.” The file also included information that these messages were sent following the dismissal of an actor who had a role in the series titled Teşkilat, which airs on TRT. It was stated that this content was divisive and fueled hatred.
The indictment further argued that the suspects, through their calls, aimed to stop consumption nationwide, cause businesses to close, and disrupt commercial life, and that they acted with hateful motives for political and social reasons. It was emphasized that these actions were aimed at deliberately obstructing economic activities.
REQUEST FOR UP TO 7 YEARS AND 6 MONTHS IN PRISON
In the indictment, charges of “preventing a person from engaging in ordinary economic activity by discriminating between individuals” and “publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility through press and publication” were directed against Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, as well as Aslı Yirsutimur, Bekir Aslan, Berna Güneri Kutlu, Burçin Erol, Buse Vatansever, Ceren Örnek, Damla Kırali, Deniz Bulutsuz, Mehmet Erdem Cevahirefendioğlu, Muhammet Enes Özel, Ömer Çiftçi, Seren Aydın, Sertaç Doğanay, Seyda Murat Germen, Şenay Ağgez, Tunahan Mert Topuz, Uğur Yangın, Yeliz Ağdemir, Zeynep Ocak, and Zeynep Sena Altan. A prison sentence ranging from 2 years and 6 months to 7 years and 6 months was requested for each suspect.
