Prison sentence requested for female teacher over sexual abuse allegations: 'I like your body'

Following allegations that 14-year-old B.Ş. (now 17), who was a student at Gölcük Girls' Imam Hatip High School in 2024, was subjected to serial sexual abuse by her female music teacher, A.G., a criminal complaint was filed by the school administration.

An investigation was launched by the Gölcük Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Teacher A.G. gave her statement and was released under judicial control by the court.

"Get a divorce, I want to live with you"

The 4th hearing of the case was held at the Kocaeli 4th High Criminal Court. The non-detained defendant A.G., the victim's parents, and the lawyers for both parties attended the hearing. Denying the accusations, the defendant A.G. stated in her defense, "What is being said is completely fabricated. B.Ş. was a very emotional child. She would hug me every time she saw me; I viewed this as a teacher-student relationship. After a while, B.Ş. started saying things to me like, 'I like your body. Get a divorce, I want to live with you.' My only mistake was not reporting this situation to the guidance counselor. I do not accept the accusations."

Request for up to 21 years in prison

Presenting the prosecutor's opinion on the merits, the public prosecutor stated that, in light of all the evidence in the file, the defendant teacher had touched and caressed the victim's private parts and kissed her on the lips at school and at home with sexual motives in a serial manner, and that the defendant had also harassed the victim by following her.

The prosecutor requested that the defendant be sentenced to a total of up to 21 years in prison, specifically 10 to 18 years for the crime of "serial child sexual abuse" and 6 months to 3 years for the crime of "sexual harassment."

The court panel adjourned the hearing, granting the lawyers for both parties time to prepare their defenses against the prosecutor's opinion.
