Prison sentence sought for punching a teacher

The investigation into suspect Ali Çarık, who assaulted teacher Necla Ö. by punching her in the hallway on April 26 in Istanbul's Sarıyer district, has been completed.
The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that suspect Ali Çarık arrived at the school where the complainant, Necla Ö., works as a teacher in his capacity as a parent, and that upon seeing the teacher, with whom he had previously had a dispute, in the hallway, he punched her in the face and assaulted her.
'I HIT HER OUT OF PARENTAL INSTINCT'
The indictment, which includes the statement of suspect Ali Çarık, recorded the suspect as saying: "We had filed a criminal complaint against the school administration and classroom teacher Necla Ö. on March 26, 2024, at the Sarıyer Child Bureau regarding 'mistreatment'. On the day of the incident, I went to the school after my son said, 'Dad, come quickly, they locked me in a room and I escaped, they are trying to lock me in the room again, the principal, Necla teacher, and Sümeyra teacher are trying to make me sign something, come quickly and help.' When I arrived at the school, I took my son and walked toward the principal's office. At that moment, I saw Necla teacher coming toward us from across the hallway, laughing with a tea glass in her hand. She said to me, as if mocking, 'You will pay the price for reporting me.' At that moment, due to my child crying beside me and a momentary surge of anger and parental instinct, I hit Necla teacher involuntarily. Afterward, I left the school. I am very regretful."
The indictment also noted that, according to the Forensic Medicine Institute report, the injuries sustained by the complainant, Necla Ö., were minor in nature, did not endanger her life, and could be resolved with simple medical intervention.
The prepared indictment requests that suspect Ali Çarık be sentenced to 9 months to 1 year and 6 months in prison for the crime of 'intentionally injuring a public official in a manner that can be resolved with simple medical intervention.' The suspect's trial will begin in the coming days at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance.
