Prison sentence sought in son-in-law and mother-in-law case that gripped Turkey!

The investigation into the incident in the Develi district of Kayseri, which became a national talking point following television programs, has been completed regarding Güldane Ş., who allegedly ran off with her disabled daughter's fiancé, and the prospective son-in-law Cuma D. The Develi Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has filed a lawsuit against the pair for three separate crimes.

The prepared indictment requests prison sentences ranging from 10 years and 3 months to 21 years and 6 months for the defendants on charges of "theft of property kept within a building," "threats by more than one person," and "intentional injury." The indictment has been accepted by the Develi Criminal Court of First Instance.

GOLD AND FOREIGN CURRENCY MISSING

One of the victims of the incident, a young disabled woman identified as D.Ş., stated in her testimony that she noticed a suspicious closeness between her fiancé Cuma and her mother Güldane, and that she was subjected to threats and physical violence when she wanted to tell her father about it.

D.Ş. explained that after her mother left the house, they realized that the gold and foreign currency her father had hidden were gone. The father, T.Ş., stated that 14 full gold coins, one bracelet, 19 thousand 500 dollars, and 35 thousand liras he had kept in his home had been stolen. According to the damage assessment report, the total loss was reported to be 1 million 226 thousand 900 liras.

DEFENDANTS DENIED THE ACCUSATIONS

Güldane Ş. and Cuma D. denied all accusations against them. However, the pair, who were taken into custody in Istanbul following the incident that made headlines through social media and television footage, had been arrested and sent to prison.
