The 11th Judicial Package, currently being prepared by the AKP and the Ministry of Justice, contains comprehensive regulations against the types of crimes increasing in the digital age. The regulation, which is planned to be submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly next week, introduces new crime definitions and penalties for fraud committed via phone and internet, the use of fake IBANs, the abuse of crypto asset accounts, and multi-SIM card fraud methods.
IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION IN BANK AND CRYPTO ACCOUNTS
According to Yücel Kayaoğlu from the Türkiye newspaper, those who use another person's bank or credit card information, payment instruments, or crypto accounts for their own benefit or the benefit of third parties will face prison sentences ranging from one to three years. Furthermore, in cases where there is a suspicion of fraud, temporary blocks of up to three days can be placed on both bank and crypto accounts. Public prosecutors will be granted the authority to seize such accounts immediately.
LIMITATION ON SIM CARD ABUSE
The package aims to prevent those who commit fraud using multiple SIM cards. In this context, a maximum of three lines can be opened in one person's name. In addition, operators will not be able to perform subscription transactions with documents that lack electronic identity verification. Electronic communication services will not be provided to devices exceeding the limit determined by the BTK.
