Furkan Bölükbaşı, known as a pro-AKP figure, quoted a post on a social media account that read, "I followed the official ceremony for the anniversary of M. Kemal's death on November 10, 2025, a little bit. My conviction that Tayyip Erdoğan and the Justice and Development Party will be dealt a very solid defeat by divine wisdom has strengthened..." and wrote, "Menderes's end was brought about by the overtures he made to Kemalism. I hope the current government of the Muslims will pull itself together before suffering the same fate."

HE REMOVED HIS POST AFTER THE BACKLASH

Bölükbaşı's statement quickly sparked a major debate on social media. After the backlash, Bölükbaşı removed his post and this time shared a photo of President Erdoğan praying, stating, "Even though we sometimes have criticisms from our own perspective, when any possibility of danger to our President arises, we stand by him with our blood and soul, and if necessary, we sacrifice ourselves to protect him. We are his loyal and brave Muslim brothers."

FIRST AN INVESTIGATION, THEN DETENTION

Following these developments, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an ex officio investigation into Bölükbaşı under Article 310 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) on charges of "Assassination and Physical Attack (Threat) against the President." Bölükbaşı has been detained.
