Pro-government columnist compares Mansur Yavaş to Abdullah Gül

Efforts continue within the Republican People's Party (CHP) regarding the primary election to determine their presidential candidate. On Sunday evening, CHP leader Özgür Özel, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş met. At the tripartite summit, ABB Mayor Yavaş announced that he would not participate in the primary election.

Ahmet Hakan, Editor-in-Chief of Hürriyet, known for his proximity to the government, addressed Yavaş's decision in his column and made a striking comparison regarding Yavaş.

Stating, "He is a bit like Abdullah Gül. He is always waiting for the pear to ripen and fall into his mouth," Ahmet Hakan added, "He is constantly chasing tactics. He never goes 'bam bam bam' [takes direct action], he cannot. He is terrified of taking risks. He wants a rose garden without thorns."
