Pro-government columnist's Kılıçdaroğlu claim regarding the CHP congress: 'If he decides to make it an elective one...'

An extraordinary congress decision was taken at the Party Assembly (PM) meeting held under the chairmanship of Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel. The statute congress will be held between September 6-9.

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, known for his proximity to the government, claimed that Özgür Özel's sole agenda is to get through the statute congress without an election.

Stating, "Özgür Özel won the election by forming an alliance with Ekrem İmamoğlu. Now he is at odds with İmamoğlu. He could have formed an alliance with Kılıçdaroğlu, but he distanced himself from Kılıçdaroğlu due to his narrow-minded cadre approach and these outbursts against Kılıçdaroğlu," Abdulkadir Selvi reported that former chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is on the verge of a decision and will clarify his stance after the second half of August.

"If Kılıçdaroğlu decides that the statute congress should be an elective one, the calculations within the CHP will be disrupted. New balances will emerge," said Selvi, continuing as follows:

"At this stage, it can be said that the golden share is in Kılıçdaroğlu's hands. Whichever side he forms an alliance with, the other will be in a difficult position. If Kılıçdaroğlu chooses Özgür Özel, what İmamoğlu will do will gain importance. Faced with this balance, İmamoğlu may not enter into an intra-party struggle.

"If Kılıçdaroğlu forms an alliance with Ekrem İmamoğlu, then what Özgür Özel does will be important. If Kılıçdaroğlu and İmamoğlu form an alliance against Özgür Özel at the congress, it means a tsunami will occur in the CHP."
