With a decree signed by President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan, the police chiefs of 37 provinces in the General Directorate of Security were changed.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the names appointed to the Department Presidencies in the new appointments on September 11.

It was learned that the brother of Mehmet Umutlu, who was appointed as the Head of the Support Services Department as announced by Yerlikaya, had been dismissed due to FETÖ.

Pro-government figure Nedim Şener stated the following on his X account:

"Mehmet Umutlu, whose brother is subject to FETÖ allegations, was appointed as the Head of the General Directorate of Security Support Services Department last week. Today, he has been dismissed because his brother is a FETÖ member."

CLAIMS OF A CRISIS WITH MHP IN THE POLICE FORCE

It had been claimed that a major crisis occurred during the recent appointments. Süleyman Karadeniz, known for kissing the hand of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, was removed from the Special Operations Presidency and appointed to Muğla.

Journalist İsmail Saymaz had stated that Karadeniz was initially intended to be pulled to the center, but was later appointed to Muğla.

Saymaz also conveyed the views of MHP sources he reached regarding the appointments. Saymaz spoke as follows:

“As far as I have heard, the number of police chiefs who lost their positions in this decree and are considered close to the MHP is not limited to Süleyman Karadeniz; I learned that there are 7 people.”

"When I asked MHP members, they said: 'Some of their family members may have connections to FETÖ.' They made such an insinuation. They made such a statement. That and other structures. That and other structures. Now, for the first time, the MHP is criticizing Ali Yerlikaya and his choices from a high level in this direction."

Additionally, claims that there has been tension between former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu and Ali Yerlikaya for some time were also on the agenda. It was said that the target of Yerlikaya's 'incompetent ambitious' post was Soylu.
