Pro-government figure claims Demirtaş will be released: 'Pack your bags, my brother Selahattin'

Following the phone call between MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, the architect of the new peace process, and imprisoned former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı, known for his proximity to the government, has claimed that Demirtaş will be released.

In the new peace process that began with the call from MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and continued with the call for the terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan to lay down arms, former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, who is imprisoned in Edirne, expressed his support for the process in a statement and thanked AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP leader Bahçeli.

Following this, it was learned that Bahçeli called Demirtaş, who was at the hospital with special permission for his wife's surgery, via Sırrı Süreyya Önder's phone. It was reported that Bahçeli first conveyed his get-well wishes to Başak Demirtaş, and then thanked Demirtaş for his contributions to the initiated process and for his recent statement.

Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı, known for his proximity to the government, stated in a post on March 1, "Selahattin Demirtaş should be released this week. Demirtaş's Edirne period must come to an end. Even though he has been in prison for 8.5 years, there is no other opposition Turkish politician in this country who can show this maturity and wisdom for peace. In his latest post, Kütahyalı took his words further, saying, "Pack your bags, my brother Selahattin... You are very close to reuniting with your one and only love, your sweetheart, your wife Başak... You will continue your political journey with the same youthful spirit as the day we met in Batman in 2009 and cut the ribbon together to open the Aram Tigran Park."
