The terrorist organization SDF in Syria has come to the fore with allegations that it has not implemented the March 10 agreement. The agreement made with the Damascus administration was an important step for the integration of the SDF, but it is stated that the SDF has not completed this process and has not been fully integrated into Syria. Turkey points out that the SDF, which cooperates with the US in northeastern Syria, is an extension of the PKK, and states that the decision to lay down arms must also cover this organization.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PKK AND SDF

While the YPG, which forms the backbone of the Syrian Democratic Forces, cooperates with the US against the terrorist organization ISIS, it is known that Turkey evaluates the PKK and the SDF within the same framework and argues that its stance against the extensions of the PKK should cover all SDF elements. In a statement on May 12, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that the PKK's decision to dissolve was being evaluated in a way that would cover not only Northern Iraq but all extensions of the organization, especially in Syria and Europe.

THE MARCH 10 AGREEMENT AND THE INTEGRATION PROCESS

It was reported that the new government established in Syria after the overthrow of the Assad regime in December 2024 signed an integration agreement with the SDF (YPG) on March 10. However, this agreement was not fully implemented and the integration of the SDF into Syria did not take place. The process in question is expected to be completed by December 31, 2025, but the Syrian side stated that the agreement has not been implemented and that communication has currently stopped.

The Syrian side used the phrase "Communication has currently stopped" in a statement made in recent days. Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler also voiced the threat of an 'operation' against the SDF. Stating that Turkey maintains its firm stance on this issue, Güler had expressed that action would be taken if the SDF's demands were met with a negative response.

FLASH OPERATION CLAIM FROM PRO-GOVERNMENT MEDIA

According to reports in Turkey's pro-government media, all preparations for an operation in the Syrian army have been completed. Turkey newspaper reporter Yılmaz Bilgen made a flash claim, stating, "All preparations regarding who will be where in the Syrian army, and which weapon or division will be deployed where, have been clearly finalized."
