Salih Müslim, the leader of the terrorist organization PYD, made statements to Türkiye Gazetesi, which is known for its proximity to the government.
The pro-government newspaper featured the interview in question on its front page. In the report by Yılmaz Bilgen, which also appeared on the website, it was stated that "PYD Presidential Council Member Salih Müslim spoke to our newspaper and answered our questions regarding the Damascus agreement and the roadmap to be followed from now on."
On the other hand, it did not go unnoticed that the report did not refer to terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan as a 'terrorist'.

Describing the current point as a "result consistent and parallel with Öcalan's call," Müslim stated, "We are hopeful about the process. Commissions will be established in a short time, and we will move on to the phase of integrating oil fields, customs, and armed forces. We will abide by the agreement." Following the 8 points announced in Damascus, different interpretations were made, especially by the PKK-YPG wing. Müslim, a member of the PYD Presidential Council and its former leader, said, "The 8 points agreed upon are absolutely correct. Speculations made on this matter should not be given credence."
Describing Turkey's move regarding Öcalan as "a development that will change history," Müslim said, "First of all, the Middle East equation will be strongly affected by this peace process. We do not believe that anything can be achieved by sowing enmity toward Turkey. The Turks are a neighboring and friendly nation to us. We are not seeking a separate state. We took this step to exist within the framework of democratic participation in Syria. We want to live as part of the Turkish and Syrian people and within the law of brotherhood. We have no demand for autonomy in Syria. We are not presenting any political preconditions either. We want a fair administration on an equal basis."
Journalist Nevşin Mengü had been sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison by the Istanbul 22nd High Criminal Court in the "terrorist organization propaganda" case opened against her for interviewing PYD leader Salih Müslim on her YouTube account. As a result of the court's majority decision, the sentence was deferred.
