Prosecution appeals acquittals and releases in Kobani case
The prosecution has filed an appeal against the acquittal and release decisions for 5 individuals, including Gülten Kışanak, Sebahat Tuncel, and Ayla Akat Ata, who were ordered to be released in the Kobani case.

The verdict has been announced in the Kobani case, which involved 108 defendants, including former HDP Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, regarding the Kobani protests that took place on October 6-8, 2014.
The Ankara 22nd High Criminal Court sentenced Selahattin Demirtaş to a total of 42 years and Figen Yüksekdağ to 30 years and 3 months in prison for 47 separate charges.
The court sentenced 24 defendants to a total of 407 years and 7 months in prison.
In the case, decisions were made for the release of 5 individuals, including Gültan Kışanak and Sebahat Tuncel, the acquittal of 12, and the continued detention of 13, while the files of 72 fugitive defendants were separated.

However, according to T24 reporter Sibel Yükler, the prosecutor of the case has appealed the release decisions.
The prosecution submitted its appeal against the court's release and acquittal decisions. The appeal stated, "It is requested on behalf of the public that the release decision regarding the defendants be reviewed, that arrest warrants be issued for the defendants individually in accordance with Article 100 and subsequent articles of the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK), and that if a contrary opinion is held, the necessary actions be taken for our appeal to be examined by the higher authority."
Following the court's decision, former Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Gültan Kışanak, former HDP and DBP Co-Chair Sebahat Tuncel, and other politicians Ayla Akat Ata, Meryem Adıbelli, and Ayşe Yağcı had been released from the prisons where they were held.
The individuals acquitted in the case are as follows: Altan Tan, Ayhan Bilgen, Aysel Tuğluk, Bircan Yorulmaz, Gülser Yıldırım, İbrahim Binici, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Can Memiş, Gülfer Akkaya, Berfin Özgü Köse, Emine Beyza Üstün, and Sibel Akdeniz.
In the case, Gültan Kışanak, who had been in prison for 7.5 years and had completed her maximum detention period 6 months ago, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for "membership in a terrorist organization," but her release was ordered taking into account the time she spent in detention.
The court, which sentenced Sebahat Tuncel to 12 years in prison for "membership in a terrorist organization," also sentenced Ayla Akat Ata to 9 years and 9 months in prison for the same charge, while ordering the release of both individuals.
