Prosecutor requests acquittal in Saraçhane case, judge adjourns
A prosecutor has requested acquittal for 7 people on trial for participating in protests in Saraçhane, Istanbul. The court adjourned the case for approximately two months to review the file before issuing a verdict.

Seven people who were charged with "violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations" for allegedly participating in protests following the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu appeared before a judge for the 4th time. In the hearing held at the Istanbul 20th Criminal Court of First Instance, the defendants were facing potential prison sentences ranging from 6 months to 3 years.
According to a report by Cumhuriyet, the prosecutor presented their final opinion on the merits during the hearing. The prosecutor stated that the evidence in the file did not demonstrate that the defendants had committed the alleged crime, concluding that the legal elements of the offense were not met. Consequently, the prosecutor requested the acquittal of each defendant individually.
Following the prosecutor's opinion, the judge ruled that the file required more detailed examination before a decision could be reached. The hearing was thus adjourned for approximately 50 days, until April 2, 2026.
