Prosecutor's office accepts request regarding Mahir Polat: Transfer from prison expected

The lawyer for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, who is being held at Silivri Prison and was hospitalized after falling ill due to high blood pressure, had previously stated regarding his health condition that "there is no one to intervene if he takes a turn for the worse." A new decision has been issued by the prosecutor's office regarding Polat.

İBB Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, who was arrested and sent to Silivri Prison (Marmara Closed Penal Execution Institution) as part of an investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, had been hospitalized.

Polat, who fell ill on March 26 due to hypertension, did not receive initial intervention at the infirmary of the Marmara No. 9 Prison where he is being held. He was subsequently transferred to Silivri State Hospital and returned to his cell in the prison following his treatment.

His lawyer, Erkam Erdem, made a statement regarding the health condition of İBB Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, who was transferred to the hospital after falling ill in Silivri Prison but was sent back to his ward. Erdem stated, "The prosecutor's office has accepted our request for a transfer to a fully equipped hospital, but the transfer from the prison has not yet taken place."

Erkan Erdem had previously stated that they had filed an objection with the 10th Criminal Court of Peace due to Polat's illness and that the file would be sent to the duty court of first instance.

In his statement to T24, Erdem used the words, "The prosecutor's office has accepted our request for a transfer to a fully equipped hospital, but the transfer from the prison has not yet taken place."
