Prosecutor's Office announces: Trustee appointed to Tele1

A trustee has been appointed to TELE 1 TV, where journalist Merdan Yanardağ, who was detained as part of an espionage investigation, serves as editor-in-chief. In a statement from the Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the management of the channel was transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) on the grounds that it was used for criminal activities during the investigation process.

A trustee has been appointed to TELE 1 TV, where journalist Merdan Yanardağ, who was detained as part of an 'espionage' investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, serves as editor-in-chief. The following statements were made in the announcement regarding the matter from the Prosecutor's Office:

Within the scope of the investigation being conducted by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the details of which were provided in our previous press release today;

Regarding the suspect Merdan, who is the editor-in-chief of the TV channel named TELE1 and was detained for the crime of espionage,

it has been determined that he committed crimes related to the investigation many times through his words and actions, that he is the de facto

user of the channel, that his son Alp Yanardağ appears as the company owner in official records, and that he used the TV channel named TELE1 for these crimes; therefore, with the decision made today by the Istanbul Criminal Judgeship of Peace, it has been decided to appoint the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) as the administrative trustee for ABC RADYO TELEVİZYON VE DİJİTAL YAYINCILIK ANONİM ŞİRKETİ, which owns the channel.
